Jolie and Pitt split, says Twitter

A few days ago, via Twitter I heard that Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt are breaking up. I didn’t really bother to do any research about it at that time because I have heard the same unfounded rumor so many times before. True to form, as soon as the reports of the most famous couple on earth (for no good reason, we might add) splitting came out, so did the news of “No they’re not!” reports.
So, let’s look at the evidence here. The UK journal News of the World reported on Sunday that Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie signed contracts how their assets would be divided in the event of a break up. The contracts also covered custody arrangements for their six children. It would stand to reason that a couple with $ 322 in assets would want to have a plan in place of what happens if things head south of heaven. Mortgage loan restructuring is typically the biggest part of a divorce, but when your asset list is that huge, you need to figure out what belongs to whom.
Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt rumors
The News of the World story doesn’t come out and say that they know for sure Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt are breaking up. It simply reports on the documents the couple reportedly signed. That said, the writer of that piece clearly purports they believe it to be a herald of doom for the couple.
TMZ, sketchy about details and citing sources as being “people directly connected with the couple,” said that the two aren’t splitting up. Either they’re breaking up or they haven’t told anyone. Another fishy piece of information is that Brad Pitt last week purchased the mansion next to their home in L.A. Speculation is that this is just about exactly what happened when Madonna and Guy Ritchie split up, “so they could share living space with their kids but keep away from each another.”
The other side of the story
Still, Pitt could have bought that house just to expand their estate. These documents could amount to little more than a precaution, like a prenuptial agreement. Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie aren’t married, so perhaps the contracts could mean the couple is planning to officially tie the knot.
Probably, though, these two smart people just recognize that when you’ve got tons of money, four or five houses and adopted kids, it’s best to have a plan in place.
